I Tried Cosmopolitan's Hoarding Challenge And I Spent How Much?

So last year, I stumbled across an article in cosmopolitan, by Laura Capon, who decided to see how much makeup she could use in a year, if she fully finished a product before moving on to another one. After looking at my pretty huge stash of supplies, I thought this was the intervention from God that I required. So as of New Year's Day 2018, I decided to save everything I used and evaluate how much I actually need!

PRIMERS
I use primer as a moisturiser so it doesn't shock me that I went through 4 in a year, as I pretty much wear this everyday, even without makeup. On average that means one lasts me about 3 months, which I ain't mad about.
Smashbox Primeriser £30 (£90 as I used 3), MAC Strobe Cream in Pinklite £25
Total = £115

FOUNDATION
So I also got through 4 foundations this year. As you can see some of these colours are darker, as I used them in summer, and also didn't use as much as it was flipping' hot. So again if I use sparingly one bottle can last me around 3 months, which is good to know.
It Cosmetics CC Cream £30 (£60 as I went through 2),MAC Face and Body £26, Makeup Forever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation £31
Total = £117

CONCEALER

I only got through 3 concealers this year which really surprised me! I only use the tiniest amount under my eyes and will use these until I am certain there is not a drop of product left!
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19, Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer £4   BareMinerals Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer £23
Total = £31.19

MASCARA
For me macara is one of my biggest buys, as my eyes are so sensitive and, I like to change my mascara after two months to make sure it won't sting my eyes! I knew this was going to be a bit of a splurge area.
Maybeline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara £8.99, Barry M Feature Length Mascara £4.99, Charlotte Tilbury Full Fatt Lashes £23, Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara £19.50, Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara £21, Maybeline Lash Sensational £8.99,
Total = £84.47

BROWS
When it comes to brows I noticed that I can crank through a brow gel like there is no tomorrow, but a pencil can last me a pretty long time, as I only used two this year, but I am a lot more heavy handed with the gel than the pencil.
Maybeline Browdrama Sculpting Mascara £5.99 (£11.98 as I got two), Make Up Forever Brow Gel £16.50, Loreal Paris Brow Artist Micro Tattoo 24hr Brow Definer £9.99, Glossier Boy Brow £14, Elf Instant Lift Brow Pencil £3.00
Total = £55.47

POWDER
I tend not to use too much bronzer these days and prefer pinky toned blush, which seems to never run out! I got through two bronzers this year and one powder, which I just carry with me to refresh my makeup in the day.
Nars Laguna Bronzer - £30, Urban Decay Beached Bronzer - £23, Soap & Glory Kick-Ass Powder £12
Total - £65

I used up a couple of eyeshadow pans but not a full palette or product so didn't want to include that. I also used up no lipsticks or liners.

The damage.... £468.13. I cannot believe the price of the makeup I used up. This doesn't even include makeup products I bought throughout the year, or brushes or skincare! This is simply what I used! I think everyone should try this, just to see how much makeup you really need before rushing out to buy the latest thing. I am so determined this year to buy as little makeup as possible and use up everything I have before splurging on something I already own!

I'm going to do the same post next year and see how much more makeup I've cranked through and If I've finally realised that I really don't need 500 foundation bottles for one face!

June Empties

I can't believe another month has rolled around and it's time for another monthly empties review. I got through six products this month (I know, I'm proud) and it was a bit of a mix of everything; Haircare, Skincare and makeup. Firstly, I used up my La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Sensitive SPF 50 Sunscreen. This isn't my favourite SPF but it does do the job. I wear three pumps of this on my face every day and it has lasted about 3 months. I think the formula is ok it can feel a bit sticky and takes a while to sink in but it isn't my favourite but it isn't a product I don't like. I have repurchased this, because SPF is THE most important part of my skincare routine and when I ran out I knew I could run to Superdrug and repurchase this, because I did not want to go without. Secondly, I finished my Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. I cannot remember the last time I finished a foundation! This is, without a doubt, my favourite drugstore foundation. It bl...

July Empties

 Ahhh another month another empties blog. I actually got through quite a bit of makeup this month, which is unusual for me as it's usually skincare I crank through.  The first product I used up was my beloved Glossier Futuredew. I didn't realise how much I loved this until it was gone. My makeup feels so much different without this as a base and I do miss it as part of my makeup routine. I have a few other primers to get through but I will definitely repurchase this one in the future. The second product I used was my benefit liquid eyeliner. I did like this liner; it's opaque, the felt tip is quite nice and it lasted such a long time before drying up. I do prefer brush tipped eyeliners as I find with hooded eyes my winged eyeliner always looks a lot more precise than with a pen style. So I purchased the KVD liquid eyeliner instead, but the benefit eyeliner is great just not my favourite.  My third empty is my smash box primer water. I adore this spray, it comes out as a f...

Reviewing Bioderma's Hydrabio Range

If you've followed my blog for a few years, you'll know Bioderma is one of my favourite skincare brands. Their Micellar water is a product I refuse to live without and I've gone through too many to count. I was over the moon when Bioderma kindly sent me their Hydrabio Range* to try. The Hydrabio range is aimed at combating dehydrated, dry, skin, which I'm especially prone to in winter. 1. Hydrabio Makeup Removing Micellar Water Now, Bioderma's Sensibio micellar water is a holy grail skincare product in my collection. Believe it or not, I didn't realise Bioderma did other varieties of micellar water for different skin concerns. I've been using the Hydrabio micellar water for a few days and I do find my skin feels more hydrated and plump, compared to the sensibio one. It removes makeup just as well as the Sensibio micellar water and I find the Hydrabio micellar water to be a little more gentle and soothing. I would definitely repurchase the Hydrabio version in...
