Trying 5 Beauty Products My Mum Swears By

When it comes to makeup, my biggest inspiration is by far my mum, she always has that, timeless class, that I spend everyday trying to achieve. So I asked her for the five staple products in her beauty routine that she can't live without and thought I'd give them a go and see how I got on!

1. No7 Lift and Luminate Triple Action Serum Foundation
This is my mum's holy grail foundation, she has gone through more bottles of this than I can count. She has quite mature skin, so loves this because of its serum texture and the fact it doesn't go cakey throughout the day. So I applied this the same way my mum does with a flat foundation brush and I was really surprised! For everyday this is stunning! It's the most natural glow, that still looks skin like without looking oily, This is not a product I would ever normally have picked but It covered my acne scarring without looking like I'd applied 1000 layers of concealer and gave me that glass skin finish. So looks like I will definelty be swiping this from my mum's makeup!

2. No7 Perfect Light Loose Powder (medium)
Normally me and drugstore setting powders do not get on, I repeat, It does not end well. Usually with drugstore powders, they just leave me oily and my makeup creases and it just feels like a waste of time. But once again, my mum loves this powder and she told this was the secret to cake and crease free makeup! First off this was tinted, which sometimes scares the life of me, but it surprisingly looked beautiful, it gave my skin an airbrushed finish without looking cakey. My eye makeup also didn't crease! I was shocked to my core, I will 100% be buying this when my current setting powder runs out. Mum you have really outdone yourself.

3. No7 Match Made Powder Blusher
Why my mum isn't the poster woman of No7 I will never know! Another beauty product my mum swears by is this blush in the colour Peach Velvet. She says it's the key to looking full of life and awake, so the colour of this is so pretty and it is insane, it blends really nicely and adds a really pretty pop. But if you know me you know I am down for a cream blush, so when I tried this my cheeks just felt really dry, that's probably just because my cheeks are so used to the cream by now. So looks like I'm still feeling the cream blush over the powder.

4. Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion
I have pretty bad dark circles, they look like black holes... so my mum loves a good eye treatment and told me to try this. My mum has already got me onto so much Liz Earle (my bank account cries), so was pretty excited to try this. You can leave this on for up to 10 minutes or just wipe your eye area with it, so I decided to do that. My mum told me to use circular motions around my eye and let the goodness happen. I really enjoyed this, it has a nice cooling sensation to it and makes me look instantly awake. I wouldn't say it was an essential if you have a good eye cream, but I love for when my under eye area is particularly dark.

5. Liz Earle Superskin Eye Cream
I think this was the game changer for me. I have religiously used a gel eye cream for about 2 years, so actually forgot how nice an under eye cream can feel. I absolutely love this, I think it gives such an instant boost and isn't too heavily fragranced. My mum told me that half a pump goes a long way, which it does! I am definelty converted back to the eye cream world and think that my mum's 5 products really are staple products for a timeless, effortless makeup routine.

June Empties

I can't believe another month has rolled around and it's time for another monthly empties review. I got through six products this month (I know, I'm proud) and it was a bit of a mix of everything; Haircare, Skincare and makeup. Firstly, I used up my La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Sensitive SPF 50 Sunscreen. This isn't my favourite SPF but it does do the job. I wear three pumps of this on my face every day and it has lasted about 3 months. I think the formula is ok it can feel a bit sticky and takes a while to sink in but it isn't my favourite but it isn't a product I don't like. I have repurchased this, because SPF is THE most important part of my skincare routine and when I ran out I knew I could run to Superdrug and repurchase this, because I did not want to go without. Secondly, I finished my Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. I cannot remember the last time I finished a foundation! This is, without a doubt, my favourite drugstore foundation. It bl...

July Empties

Ahhh another month another empties blog. I actually got through quite a bit of makeup this month, which is unusual for me as it's usually skincare I crank through.  The first product I used up was my beloved Glossier Futuredew. I didn't realise how much I loved this until it was gone. My makeup feels so much different without this as a base and I do miss it as part of my makeup routine. I have a few other primers to get through but I will definitely repurchase this one in the future. The second product I used was my benefit liquid eyeliner. I did like this liner; it's opaque, the felt tip is quite nice and it lasted such a long time before drying up. I do prefer brush tipped eyeliners as I find with hooded eyes my winged eyeliner always looks a lot more precise than with a pen style. So I purchased the KVD liquid eyeliner instead, but the benefit eyeliner is great just not my favourite.  My third empty is my smash box primer water. I adore this spray, it comes out as a f...

Reviewing Bioderma's Hydrabio Range

If you've followed my blog for a few years, you'll know Bioderma is one of my favourite skincare brands. Their Micellar water is a product I refuse to live without and I've gone through too many to count. I was over the moon when Bioderma kindly sent me their Hydrabio Range* to try. The Hydrabio range is aimed at combating dehydrated, dry, skin, which I'm especially prone to in winter. 1. Hydrabio Makeup Removing Micellar Water Now, Bioderma's Sensibio micellar water is a holy grail skincare product in my collection. Believe it or not, I didn't realise Bioderma did other varieties of micellar water for different skin concerns. I've been using the Hydrabio micellar water for a few days and I do find my skin feels more hydrated and plump, compared to the sensibio one. It removes makeup just as well as the Sensibio micellar water and I find the Hydrabio micellar water to be a little more gentle and soothing. I would definitely repurchase the Hydrabio version in...
