Foundation Review - Smashbox Studio Skin

Well, By now you probably realise, I do have a little obsession with foundation (probably need to gain some self control kind of obsession) and that brings us on to the next instalment of reviewing my foundation collection... The Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation Hydrating 15 hour wear foundation.

First off. The packaging of this foundation, is stunning, a clear glass bottle is the way to my heart. I love how simple it is and how I can actually see how much I'm using, which is always a win. It also comes with a pump, which stops me wasting product and is just so much easier for keeping the bottle clean.

Now, the foundation... the texture, is pretty liquidy and feels really thin and runny. It has a medium to full coverage and is definitely buildable, the only issue I find with this foundation, is that for it to cover my whole face, to a decent medium coverage, I need about 5 pumps.... 5 PUMPS ! For comparison, I think the most pumps I have ever used to cover my face with any other foundation is 3. So just bare in mind, you may go through a lot of this foundation, which for £29, I may need to start rationing.

So I usually apply this with a beauty blender, I've found that it can look pretty dry when applied with a brush and cling to dry patches on my face. This claims to provide a naturally, matte finish, which I think it achieves really nicely. It looks like my skin's texture without makeup but extremely polished and all my acne scarring is covered.

The only thing is... with this foundation, for some reason, no matter what primer I use, how I apply it, what powder I use to set it, it always feels extremely dry on my skin, and I mean every time I talk, I can feel the foundation almost sinking into my skin. This seems odd to me as the foundation claims to be 'hydrating' but I honestly don't think I have worn a foundation that feels this drying ever. It makes wearing the foundation extremely difficult as I hate being able to feel makeup on my face.

One thing I will say, is that if you are looking for a foundation that lasts and doesn't move all day, then this is ideal. When I have worn this foundation, in hot weather, for hours on end, to the beach, it has not budged and I haven't had to powder my face once. Not a drop of oil, all day, on my little face... But for me I just cannot get over how it feels on my face, it is so uncomfortable to wear! Also when I got this foundation they hadn't yet expanded the shade range, so I got the lightest colour which is 1.0... it does oxidise in the day and by the end of the day, does give me strong umpa lumpa vibes. So overall, if they could just fix how drying it feels, this foundation would be amazing! I know they have expanded the shade range which is great and hopefully I'll now be able to not look like an extra in Willy Wonka!

Reviewing Bioderma's Hydrabio Range

If you've followed my blog for a few years, you'll know Bioderma is one of my favourite skincare brands. Their Micellar water is a product I refuse to live without and I've gone through too many to count. I was over the moon when Bioderma kindly sent me their Hydrabio Range* to try. The Hydrabio range is aimed at combating dehydrated, dry, skin, which I'm especially prone to in winter. 1. Hydrabio Makeup Removing Micellar Water Now, Bioderma's Sensibio micellar water is a holy grail skincare product in my collection. Believe it or not, I didn't realise Bioderma did other varieties of micellar water for different skin concerns. I've been using the Hydrabio micellar water for a few days and I do find my skin feels more hydrated and plump, compared to the sensibio one. It removes makeup just as well as the Sensibio micellar water and I find the Hydrabio micellar water to be a little more gentle and soothing. I would definitely repurchase the Hydrabio version in...

July Empties

Ahhh another month another empties blog. I actually got through quite a bit of makeup this month, which is unusual for me as it's usually skincare I crank through.  The first product I used up was my beloved Glossier Futuredew. I didn't realise how much I loved this until it was gone. My makeup feels so much different without this as a base and I do miss it as part of my makeup routine. I have a few other primers to get through but I will definitely repurchase this one in the future. The second product I used was my benefit liquid eyeliner. I did like this liner; it's opaque, the felt tip is quite nice and it lasted such a long time before drying up. I do prefer brush tipped eyeliners as I find with hooded eyes my winged eyeliner always looks a lot more precise than with a pen style. So I purchased the KVD liquid eyeliner instead, but the benefit eyeliner is great just not my favourite.  My third empty is my smash box primer water. I adore this spray, it comes out as a f...

Glossier Skywash Review

Whenever Glossier launches anything, I just can't resist! I always loved the idea of swipe on liquid eyeshadows, but Glossiers lidstar's were just too shimmery for my taste... but Skywash.... right up my alley! These are matte liquid Eyeshadows, which claim to be buildable, long lasting (up to twelve hours) and easy to apply. I bought the shades echo, a cocoa brown and terra, a warm orange based brown. I love the concealer, doe foot like applicator, as it is small enough to swipe a good amount on my eyelid, without smearing it everywhere. I honestly can't tell you how easy these are to apply and blend out. A quick swipe on my eye and tap tap tap... I have a gorgeous wash of colour that's not patchy and looks divine! I love how quick and easy these are to apply and the fact they applied evenly really shocked me. They are also buildable, applying two coats gives me more of an evening look and a stronger wash of colour. To be honest... they aren't super long wear...
